Job Introduction
As we continue our mission to make people and nature happy through reinventing chocolate, we’re looking for a Site Services Lead to join our Engineering team on a permanent basis. As Site Services Lead, you will play a key part in providing engineering services that are vital to maintaining and improving operational performance, safety, legality and compliance, whilst identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption and improve overall site efficiency. Working closely with our Production and wider Engineering team, you will help to deliver world‑class service standards, support operational excellence and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

The onsite location for this role is at our Factory ‘Hadley Park’, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, right in the heart of where our chocolates are made and where weekly, we can produce between 4 to 6 million of the chocolates we all know and love. Hadley Park is just 5 minutes off the A141 and 1.3 miles from Huntingdon train station, with direct rail links to London King’s Cross.
What you’ll be doing…
- To comply with Safety, Health and Environmental requirements within the business in line with the Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, e.g. Work Instructions and Safe Systems.
- Appropriate level of contractor management (Permits to Work, RAMS etc).
- Keep water treatment plant running to required/legal discharge levels.
- Compliance and maintenance of water treatment plant, boilers, chillers, air compressors, amenities, LOLER, COSHH etc across site.
- Assure operational reliability through Reactive and Preventative Maintenance service delivery.
- Constantly looking for way to reduce energy consumption across site.
- Be a role model complying with all Health and Safety Policies / Safe Systems of Work.
- Ensure GMP standards are maintained ensuring food safety priority in all works carried out.
- To build strong relationships with colleagues both within the department and cross functionally.
- To maintain accurate and timely records of all work carried out, including passing of detailed information upon handover between shifts.
- Actively contribute to the culture of Continuous Improvement with the site service/engineering team and adopt lean processes to deliver optimal return on investment.
- Promote and reinforce the vision and culture of the HC brand and be an ambassador for its values.
- Communicate effectively to keep everyone informed of your work and intentions.
Who you are…
- Experience in Food Manufacturing.
- Strong compliance and legal knowledge of site services.
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge and relevant qualifications.
- Ability to plan, organise and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Previous examples of reducing site energy consumption in other roles.
- Time served apprenticeship plus industrial experience.
