Job Introduction: As we continue our mission to make people and nature happy through reinventing chocolate, we’re looking for a Hygiene Operative to join our Hygiene Team on a permanent night shift basis. As a Hygiene Operative, you will be working within a dynamic and fast-paced professional hygiene team, responsible for ensuring that all cleaning activities are completed consistently in line with required Food Safety, quality and compliance standards.
What you’ll be doing:
- Complete all cleaning activities in line with documented cleaning procedures, following the correct methods every time to achieve the required hygiene standards.
- Deliver cleaning tasks to the required food safety, quality, and compliance standards, ensuring your assigned areas are maintained to a consistently high standard.
- Carry out the safe disassembly and reassembly of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and the training provided.
- Follow cleaning schedules and complete all assigned tasks as directed by the Hygiene Manager, Hygiene Team Manager, or Hygiene Senior Operative.
- Maintain high housekeeping and hygiene standards across all designated production and support areas.
- Comply with all site food safety, quality, technical, and hygiene procedures.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work, and risk control measures.
- Handle, prepare, and use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with COSHH requirements and site procedures.
- Report any hygiene, equipment, food safety, or Health & Safety concerns promptly to the appropriate manager.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments, maintaining a professional, respectful, and positive approach at all times.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the needs of the business, provided they are within your training and competence.
Who you are:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of safe working practices and the ability to recognise and report unsafe conditions or behaviours.
- Ability to handle and use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with training and site procedures.
- Previous experience working as a Hygiene Operative or Production Operative within a food manufacturing environment.
- COSHH or chemical handling training.
- Food Safety Level 2 certification.
- Experience working to hygiene, food safety, and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
