Legal Counsel in Penarth

Now, we’re looking for a Legal Counsel to support the business across contracts, compliance, intellectual property, and risk management. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and external legal counsels across multiple jurisdictions to ensure the company operates in a compliant, well‑governed, and risk‑aware manner.

What you’ll be doing

• Contracts & Legal Advisory
  • Draft, review, and manage a wide range of legal agreements, including franchise, service, licensing, and commercial contracts.
  • Support timely contract renewals and preparation of legal documentation as required.
  • Provide practical legal advice across business matters, including commercial, employment, IP, and regulatory issues.
• Compliance and Risk Management
  • Support legal compliance across the organisation and advise on regulatory and legal risks.
  • Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate exposure.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the business.
• Intellectual Property Management
  • Manage the Group’s trademark and IP portfolio, including applications, renewals, and infringement matters.
  • Support appropriate trademark and IP licensing structures across the Group, with external counsel where needed.
• Dispute & External Counsel Management
  • Advise on potential disputes and assess legal risks and implications.
  • Coordinate and manage legal matters handled by external counsels, including updates to management.
  • Prepare legal summaries and reports to support decision making.
• Legal Operations
  • Coordinate execution and storage of legal documents (physical and electronic).
  • Maintain legal records, trackers, and renewal schedules.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsels across relevant jurisdictions.

All support to be extended to Hot Palette group of companies, including affiliate companies in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Malaysia, United States and Thailand.

What we are looking for

• Degree in Law and relevant working experience as an in‑house legal counsel or in law firm.
• Experience handling commercial contracts, compliance matters, and intellectual property.
• Able to work independently while partnering closely with business stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
• Experience working with regional or multi‑country stakeholders is an advantage.
