Set within this captivating landscape lies Another Place – The Machrie. Originating from the Gaelic term ‘machair’, meaning ‘the linking stretch of land that joins the grassy dunes with the shoreline’, The Machrie offers elevated comforts and unforgettable experiences.

We’re looking for a House Manager to deliver memorable, meaningful, and elevated experiences for our guests – from first impression to final goodbye. You’ll embody the spirit of Another Place with your friendly welcome, effortless charm, and seamless efficiency, and oversee our Front Desk team, embodying the ease, enjoyment, and mindfulness that shapes our guest experience. Guests will remember you for underpinning the happiness that shaped their stay, and locals will remember you for your close attention to detail. You’ll thrive in your role, whilst taking the next step up the ladder in your hospitality career.

Responsibilities

  • Enhancing our guest experience at every opportunity, from initial contact to farewell.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving problems and staying one step ahead.
  • Handling guest-related issues promptly and smoothly.
  • Addressing any complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of the hotel, policies, systems, and procedures to promptly address guest inquiries.
  • Supporting and training host team members to ensure their understanding of the hotel and their responsibilities.
  • Ensuring the host team remains guest-focused, embodying the hotel's spirit and values.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of guest-facing areas and coordinating with maintenance and housekeeping teams.
  • Staying updated on allergy procedures and serving as the main contact for related inquiries.
  • Familiarising yourself with the end-of-day (EOD) process and liaise with the Accounts team as needed.
  • Handling bookings using the appropriate systems across the resort.
  • Conducting thorough booking checks to ensure guests are well-informed and excited for their stay.
  • Fulfilling any additional duties assigned by senior management.
  • Adhering to Health, Safety, and Licensing laws.
  • Acting as the initial point of contact for required First Aid.
  • Assuming the role of fire warden during alarm activations.

Skills you’ll be sharing

  • Previous management experience within a similar role
  • Experience of property management systems
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Exceptional level of customer service and focus
  • Previous management role
  • Previous F&B experience
  • First Aid qualification
  • Current Enhanced DBS
  • Personal Licence holder
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of hotel computer booking systems
  • Adept at prioritising tasks and effective time management

Additional experience you’ll need:

  • Previous experience of island living, or equivalent (desirable).
  • A valid driving licence, and relevant driving experience.
  • Access to your own transport (essential).
