Position: Winter Caretaker
Location: Lochranza Youth Hostel, (KA27 8HL)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract, ASAP until 31/Mar/2027
Hours Per Week: 10 hpw
Salary: £13.00 per hr

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake winter caretaking duties at our Lochranza Youth Hostel. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to maintaining the safety, security, and general upkeep of the property. Ideally, applicants will live within a reasonable commuting distance of the hostel to facilitate daily inspections throughout the winter period.

About the role:
Reporting to the Argyll Group Manager, you will:
- Keep the property secure throughout the winter closure.
- Carry out regular inspections of the building, doors, windows, locks and external areas.
- Check for signs of attempted entry, vandalism, damage or unauthorised access.
- Ensure all windows, external doors and other access points are properly secured.
- Report any security concerns, damage or suspicious activity immediately.
- Maintain a record of inspections and report any issues identified.
- Report heating, plumbing and electrical faults immediately.
- Report any fire alarm faults or other safety concerns promptly.
Suitable applicant will have:
- A reliable and trustworthy approach to work as you will manage your own time.
- Ability to recognise and report potential property maintenance issues.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage routine tasks.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- A responsible approach to property security, safety and confidentiality.
- Full training will be given where required.
