Hostelling Scotland, a vibrant charity with stunning properties across the country, is seeking a dynamic Hostel Manager to lead our team at the Oban Youth Hostel, with overarching responsibility for the Port Charlotte, Lochranza & Tobermory Hostels (Argyll group). About the Role

As Hostel Manager, you'll be more than just a manager – you'll be a leader, a team builder, and a community champion. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Oban Youth Hostel, ensuring exceptional guest service, managing your team's performance, and driving revenue growth. You'll also play a key role in the wider Hostelling Scotland management team, collaborating with other managers across the country.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and inspire your team to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
  • Manage all aspects of hostel operations, from bookings and revenue management to maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and optimise hostel services.
  • Build strong relationships with local communities and businesses.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food safety (training provided if needed).
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager for support and guidance.
  • Be prepared to "muck in" and support the team when needed, including assisting with changeovers (a reasonable level of physical fitness is required).

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in a management role within the hospitality or a similar industry.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating positive guest experiences.
  • Strong budget management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • A positive attitude, a sense of humour, and a willingness to work alongside your team.
  • Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance. (reimbursed by Hostelling Scotland)
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • UK driver's licence and own vehicle with business insurance.
