Position: Housekeeper/Hostel Assistant – Part‑Time

Location: Inverness Youth Hostel (IV2 3QB)

Contract: Fixed term, Start date ASAP until 31/10/2025

Hours per week: 16–24 hours (10am‑3pm depending on discussion)

Salary: £13.00 per hour

Accommodation: Live‑out position

Housekeeping / Cleaning Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain all rooms, public areas and toilets/shower rooms as directed
  • Maintain good health and safety practices and handle chemical solutions in line with COSHH legislation
  • Report all maintenance requests to your manager and log them on the maintenance tracker
  • Deep clean rooms and public areas as outlined by your manager and maintain cleanliness at all times, including polishing, carpet cleaning, dusting, etc.

Reception Responsibilities

  • Take computer reservations by telephone, email and reception
  • Provide advice to guests about local and national attractions
  • Provide full reception service to hostel guests, including check‑in, guest registration, check‑out in line with SOPs
  • Actively promote the sale of auxiliary items and additional services
  • Maintain bed plans and act on recent changes
  • Promote Hostelling Scotland Membership
