Position: Housekeeper/Hostel Assistant - Part-Time
Location: Glen Nevis Youth Hostel (PH33 6SY)
Contract: Fixed term, Start date ASAP until 31/10/2025
Hours per week: 16-24 hours are between 10am-3pm (can be discussed at interview)
Salary: £13.00 per hour

Hostelling is open to all. We are a non-profit charity and we take our responsibilities seriously, helping guests of all ages and backgrounds to discover and experience all that is Scotland.
We are recruiting a Housekeeper/Hostel Assistant to join our dedicated, friendly and professional team at our Glen Nevis Youth Hostel, part of the Lochaber Group.
As a Housekeeper/Hostel Assistant, you will be undertaking a range of hostel duties:
- Housekeeping/Cleaning Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain all rooms, public areas and toilets/shower rooms as directed
- Maintain good health and safety practices and handle chemical solutions in line with COSHH legislation
- Report all maintenance requests to your Manager and log on the maintenance tracker
- Deep clean rooms and public areas as outlined by your manager and maintain cleanliness in the hostel at all times by cleaning, polishing, cleaning carpets, dusting etc.
- Reception
- Take computer reservations by telephone, email and reception
- Provide advice to hotel guests about local and national attractions
- Provide a full reception service to Hostel guests, including check in, guest registration, check out etc. in line with Reception SOP’s
- Actively promote the sale of auxiliary items and additional services
- Maintain bed plans and act on recent changes
- Promote Hostelling Scotland Membership
