Hostel Assistant

Hostelling Scotland is recruiting a Hostel Assistant for Glen Nevis Youth Hostel near Fort William. This role suits someone adaptable and friendly who enjoys working with people while supporting the day to day running of a busy Highland hostel.

The role

• Supporting the daily operation of Glen Nevis Youth Hostel.
• Welcoming guests and assisting with reception duties including check in and check out.
• Providing information to visitors about the hostel and surrounding area.
• Helping with housekeeping and maintaining clean guest areas.
• Supporting basic catering duties when required.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure guests receive a warm and professional welcome.

Working pattern

• 37.5 hours per week.
• Shifts will vary and may include evenings and weekends.
• Live in accommodation is available, with a small weekly utility levy.

What we are looking for

• A friendly and professional manner with guests.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to adapt to different tasks during busy periods.
• A willingness to support reception, housekeeping and catering duties.
• Previous hospitality or customer service experience is helpful but not essential.
