Join our team, with an adventurous spirit, to help our guests discover and experience the real Scotland through hostelling with us whilst you can also enjoy exploring cities, hillwalking, climbing and many other outdoor activities and amazing surroundings in your spare time.

As a non-profit charity with people and communities at our heart, we also give people, who otherwise would not have the opportunity, the chance of a well needed break to explore and experience Scotland or to develop their skills for life, learning and work through our youth programmes.

You will be part of our dedicated and friendly team at our Aviemore Youth Hostel, but may also travel to other hostels in the group, therefore a driving licence and access to a vehicle would be useful.

About the role of Duty Manager:

Reporting to our Cairngorm Group Manager, you will supervise day-to-day operational management of our hostel to ensure that we deliver high standards in all areas of our hostel activities and guests interactions so that our guests will have memorable and enjoyable experience with us.

-Deliver high level of quality service and standard with the guest facility provision being welcoming, clean, comfortable, secure, safe, accessible and compliant, and maintained

-Enhances guest experience and exceed their expectations, including dealing with guests feedback and complaints in a timely and professional manner

-Take all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety and security of the guests, employees, volunteers and visitor at all times

-Assist in managing hostel team with effective supervision, training and performance development, ensuring everyone maintains the highest standards of uniform, personal presentation and hygiene protocols in accordance with Hostelling Scotlands relevant Standing Operating Procedures.

-Work alongside the team, if short staffed, undertaking hands-on approach and provide cover for team member and perform full cleaning duties for the day to ensure the work is done in a timely and efficient manner

Ideally you will have:

-A passion towards excellent customer service standards

-Positive leadership experience with an ability to motivate teams

-An excellent communication skills an inspirational approach to interact with people

-Flexibility in your approach to adapt to all situations including changing workload and demands as well as going for extra miles to assist guests and to support teams

-Problem solving skills to identify and apply the appropriate solution and provide satisfactory outcome for guests
