Job Reference: TOBDS03625 Position: Duty Supervisor x 2 Location: Tobermory Youth Hostel, (PA75 6NU) Contract: Fixed term contract, 13/Mar/25 until 30/Sep/25 Hours per week: 37.50 Salary: £12.21 Per Hour Accommodation: Live-in accommodation available (Note: a small weekly utility levy applies.) Would you like to work close to one of the prettiest ports in Scotland? The colourful houses, a sheltered bay and where legend has it, a Spanish Armada was sunk in 1588 carrying gold bullion. It was built as a fishing port in 1788, has a 9 hole golf course sitting in the cliffs above Tobermory, where on a clear day you can see right over to the Isle of Skye. It has a mix of shops, eateries and locally produced arts and crafts. You can go whale watching and relax on a wildlife cruise. There is also live music at An Tobar and there is also the Mull Theatre. Lots of things to do in your spare time. Would you like to join our team on the fabulous Island of Tobermory? We are recruiting a Duty Supervisor to join our dedicated, friendly and professional team at our Tobermory Youth Hostel, part of the Argyll Group. This role is suitable for someone who wishes to progress their career in hospitality management, assisting in running a busy city hostel. About the role: Reporting to the Argyll Group Manager, you will: * Provide professional, efficient and effective day-to-day hostel management. * Deliver high level of quality service and standard with the guest facility provision being welcoming, clean, comfortable, secure, safe, accessible and compliant, and maintained * Enhances guest experience and exceed their expectations, including dealing with guests feedback and complaints in a timely and professional manner * Take all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety and security of the guests, employees, volunteers and visitor at all times * Assist the Group Manager and Duty Manager in implementing strategic and operational plans, development priorities, statutory compliance, risk assessments, policies and procedures to achieve Hostelling Scotland’s charitable aims and objectives * With guidance from the Group Manager and Duty Manager, assist in the marketing, promotion and development of the hostel to maximise the potential annual accommodation, food, beverage and other hostel sales income, thus safeguarding the financial viability of the hostel. * Actively and positively foster and maintain good local community relations and work in partnership with affiliated and community organisations to promote Hostelling Scotland and its Charitable objectives. * Maintains the highest standards of uniform, personal presentation and hygiene protocols in accordance with Hostelling Scotland’s relevant Standing Operating Procedures. You will be part of a small team, which means successful candidates live and work closely with colleagues. It is therefore essential that all members are capable and willing to support and respect each other, maintaining team morale to create a positive environment for both guest and employee experience.
