We are looking for an experienced and passionate Learning & Development Manager to lead our organisational learning strategy and help shape a high-performing, skilled and engaged workforce. This is an exciting opportunity for a learning professional who thrives on developing people, building capability, and driving continuous improvement. As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will lead the Learning & Development function, manage a team of Training Coordinators, and oversee the successful operation of our Test Centre.
About the Role
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be responsible for creating and delivering a Learning & Development strategy that supports business objectives and enhances employee performance. You will oversee the entire learner journey, from onboarding and induction through to ongoing professional development, ensuring our people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed. Working closely with managers and leaders across the organisation, you will identify skills gaps, design impactful learning solutions, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organisation's Learning & Development strategy.
- Manage onboarding, induction, mandatory training and professional development programmes.
- Design, develop and facilitate engaging learning solutions using classroom, virtual and digital methods.
- Conduct learning needs analyses and workforce capability assessments.
- Coordinate external training courses, qualifications and apprenticeship programmes.
- Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), training records and compliance reporting.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the L&D budget and training resources.
- Lead, coach and develop two Training Coordinators.
- Oversee the operation, compliance and commercial performance of the Test Centre.
- Ensure compliance with CITB, ECITB and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Produce meaningful reports and insights on learning, compliance and operational performance.
About You
You are an experienced Learning & Development professional with a passion for developing people and supporting organisational success. You are equally comfortable designing strategic learning initiatives as you are delivering engaging training sessions and coaching others.
Essential Requirements
- CIPD Level 5 qualification in Learning & Development (or equivalent experience).
- Significant experience in Learning & Development, Training or Talent Development roles.
- Experience designing, delivering and evaluating learning programmes.
- Previous people management or supervisory experience.
- Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to analyse data and provide practical recommendations.
Desirable
- Experience within hospitality, customer service or multi-site environments.
- Experience working with external training providers and apprenticeship schemes.
- Leadership and management development experience.
- Knowledge of CITB and ECITB requirements.
- Budget management experience.
