This well-established Butchers which is part of a successful group is seeking the talents of a Head Butcher to oversee the Butchery operation. You will be responsible for managing a team of 10 butchers. Head Butcher £50,000 per annum Hampstead Well established group Daytime hours 50% staff discount 48 hours per week Shift pattern 7-8am – 4pm and occasional late shift 10am-7pm Staff Management Deliver the required levels of staff presentation, personal grooming and uniform, product knowledge, sales training and customer service as set out in the Company handbooks Supervise the workplace including breaks Prepare schedules by Monday of each week for the week following to meet target labour % and customer service standards Liaise with line manager regarding vacancies, walk in and email applicants Conduct interviews, block tests and liaise with line manager to agree new appointments and terms. Ensure that new employee information is collected and contract issued. Deliver training as set out in the Company handbooks Conduct team appraisals Liaise with other managers to ensure that holiday planning for the year is completed so that each employee receives their full entitlement at times that are suitable for the business Record holidays, sickness, absenteeism on final schedules Record and communicate accidents including RIDDOR (reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations) Liaise with line manager re. employee discipline and disciplinary action. Standards Management Deliver vibrant, fresh and immaculate displays, shop frontage and signage Deliver hygienic, clean and organised front and back of house areas Deliver standards including (but not exclusively) procedures in the Operations Manual Deliver food hygiene and health & safety day-to-day management and the upkeep of H&S records and files Ensure product information, labelling and pricing is updated and complete Implement pest control, laundry and refuse collection Stock Ensure efficient ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste Monitor and act to minimise theft by employees and customers Ensure accurate checking and processing of delivery notes, invoices and credit notes Deliver stock valuation monthly within 5 days of count Minimise packaging and sundry costs without reducing the quality of the offering Update general manager on stock shortages (existing or foreseen) Other Perform daily functions including; liaison with customers (including trade accounts) regarding enquiries, deliveries, collections and complaints, process orders that come in by phone, online enquiry, in-shop and email, taking responsibility for the checking of emails regularly each day.
