General Manager - Premium Country Pub & Inn Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE + approx. £4,000 annual house tronc Location: Near Hungerford, West Berkshire We're looking for an ambitious and hands-on General Manager to take the lead at a quality independent country pub and inn in West Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager or strong FOH Manager who is ready to take their first step into a General Manager position. Working closely with the Chef Patron, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day FOH operation, leading the team and ensuring consistently high standards across the pub, restaurant and five guest bedrooms. The Role Take overall responsibility for the Front of House operation. Lead, motivate and develop the FOH team. Work closely with the Chef Patron to deliver an outstanding guest experience. Lead services and ensure consistently high standards. Support the operation of the five guest bedrooms. Manage bookings, guest feedback and customer relationships. Assist with recruitment, training and team development. Support stock control and operational administration. Help drive sales and maximise the commercial performance of the business. Lead by example and remain hands-on when required. About You We're looking for someone who is ready to make the move into their first General Manager position. You may currently be an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Restaurant Manager or experienced FOH Manager with the ambition to take the next step. Ideally, you will have: Strong experience within a quality pub, gastro pub, restaurant or hotel. Previous experience leading an FOH team. Excellent service and hospitality standards. A hands-on, visible management style. Strong communication and organisational skills. The confidence to take ownership and make decisions. Experience with guest accommodation would be beneficial.
