This role provides an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development. We offer comprehensive support for those studying towards an accounting qualification and developing their careers within the NHS which includes a training coach, full financial support and a day a week allocated study time.
The Financial Management Assistant role is responsible for the production of monthly management accounts and for providing sound financial advice and support to Operational Managers, both clinical and non-clinical, at Ward / Department and Directorate level.
There are 2 roles available. Both are key roles in supporting and working with financial and operational colleagues in delivering excellent patient services in the Pathology Division and Central Functions Division.
Key to this is building relationships with colleagues and having the operational insight required to produce accurate management accounts and to provide sound financial advice.
Main duties of the job
The key elements of the role are to :

Provide operational managers with information and analysis each month.

Review actual income and expenditure within the Trust ledger system (ABS).

Prepare and input journals and accruals to produce accurate management accounts.

Hold meetings with budget holders and managers independently.

Support the Directorate Teams to ensure timely reporting and recovery of income.

Prepare budget virements and journals to maintain the integrity of financial and staffing budgets.
Essential
- 5 GCSEs passes or equivalent including Maths & English, * AAT Certification Level 3 and / or Level 4 or equivalent qualification in a related subject area business or accountancy
Knowledge

Experience of working in a similar environment.
