We are recruiting for a fantasticCatering Manager / Head Chefopportunity within a specialist education setting in the Brighton area. This is a brilliant role for a quality chef who still loves being hands-on in the kitchen but is ready to take ownership of their own catering operation. You'll be responsible for creating and delivering nutritious, high-qualitylunch and hot dinner services, while managing menus, ordering, stock, food safety, allergens, compliance and departmental budgets. You'll also directly manage a Kitchen Assistant and work closely with the wider management team. The Hours 37 hours per week 39 weeks per year MondayThursday: approximately 10.30am7.00pm Friday: approximately 10.00am3.00pm Some flexibility available No traditional restaurant late nights Excellent school-based working pattern For a chef coming from hotels, restaurants or contract catering, the lifestyle difference could be enormous. Salary £40,444 £44,253 FTE, depending on experience, pro-rated for 39 weeks plus annual leave entitlement. The salary range also benefits from annual increments within the pay scale and applicable local government pay awards. What We're Looking For We're interested in experienced: Catering Managers | Chef Managers | Head Chefs | Senior Sous Chefs ready to step up You'll need strong hands-on cooking ability combined with the confidence to run a catering operation. Ideally, you'll have: Relevant catering and management experience Recognised professional catering qualifications Intermediate Food Safety certification Strong knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and Health & Safety Menu planning and nutritional awareness Stock ordering and supplier management experience Budgetary and cost-control skills Good communication and basic Microsoft Office skills Experience withinschools, education, healthcare, care homes or contract cateringwould be particularly useful, although strong chefs from other quality operations are encouraged to apply.
