An experienced Field Sales Engineer is required to drive sales growth of custom and standard cable assembly solutions across the Midlands, working fully remotely with regular customer visits. This role blends technical understanding of cable assemblies and interconnects with relationship-building, helping OEM, industrial and technology customers specify and implement the right solutions for their applications.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver a territory sales plan to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Identify, qualify and win new business for cable assemblies, wire harnesses and related interconnect products, while growing existing accounts through regular contact, visits and technical presentations.
- Understand customer design requirements and translate them into feasible cable assembly solutions, advising on connectors, harness layouts, shielding, materials and assembly methods.
- Work closely with design engineers to support prototype builds, design validation and post-sales technical support, including troubleshooting issues on customer sites.
- Monitor market and competitor activity, feeding back customer insights and product improvement ideas, and representing the business at trade shows, conferences and technical events.
- Background in technical sales, field sales or technical account management, experience working within cable assemblies, wire harnesses, interconnect products or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong technical understanding of cable assembly design, materials, connectors and manufacturing processes, with confidence reading drawings, specifications and schematics.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with a self-motivated, organised approach to managing a remote territory and pipeline.
- Comfortable using CRM systems and Microsoft Office, with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands as needed.
