Lead and implement Discord’s regulatory response strategy for UK/EU and Australia on online safety, content moderation, and compliance. Navigate a fast-evolving regulatory landscape—this role requires flexibility and adaptability. Collaborate closely with product counsel, public policy, and communications teams. Engage directly with regulators: prepare responses, meet with authorities, and represent Discord’s compliance approach. Maintain company templates and policies on privacy, security, teen safety, etc. Potentially assist with consumer complaints, small claims, and defensive legal matters.
What You Should Have:
- 10+ years’ experience in regulatory legal practice focusing on Internet regulation: user safety, privacy, data protection, consumer protection.
- Deep knowledge of UK/EU/Australia regulations such as the UK & Australian Online Safety Acts, EU Digital Services Act, GDPR, AI Act, privacy and consumer protection laws.
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies in UK, EU, and/or Australia.
- Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Experience with companies in social media, communications, messaging, or gaming.
- Strong project management, strategic judgment, and collaborative skills.
- High emotional intelligence and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Familiarity with Discord and the gaming industry.
