Out of School Club Play Worker (Part time) – “The Lighthouse Club at Horwich Parish”

Fixed term contract: 2nd September 2026 to 31st August 2027. Initial start date: Immediate. The role is part‑time, 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday during term time (7:40‑8:40 am and 3:15‑5:15 pm). Salary: £8,796.30 (including living wage allowance). Reporting to The Head Teacher/Deputy Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the operation of a before‑school and after‑school club, ensuring the provision of high‑quality childcare, suitable play opportunities, and liaison with parents and relevant agencies.

Main Duties

  • Provide inclusive, safe play and care that meets children’s individual needs; supervise activities and outings, offer refreshments, and manage collection and delivery of children.
  • Prepare healthy snacks for the children and escort them to their classes in time for registration.
  • Offer high‑quality, creative, appropriate play opportunities in a safe child‑centred environment and through a Children’s Rights‑Based approach.
  • Support children with additional requirements (e.g., autism, ADHD, physical disability) after appropriate training.
  • Prepare activities and assist in programme planning.
  • Encourage parental and community involvement; participate in events to raise the club’s profile.
  • Support the development of the club, striving for positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Liaise with parents, schools and other agencies to promote the club and safeguard children’s wellbeing.
  • Maintain premises and equipment in a clean, safe condition and ensure security when necessary, in line with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Administer first aid when appropriately qualified.
  • Assist the Deputy Manager in achieving Ofsted standards.
  • Work within agreed policies, maintain good practice, and act within an equal‑opportunities framework.
  • Wear a uniform and identification if provided when working in the club.
  • Work flexibly, including early mornings, afternoons and evenings.
  • Additional responsibilities may be required in accordance with school needs and at the discretion of the Head Teacher.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
