Horton Housing are currently recruiting for Housing Support Workers for our new scheme based in central Bradford. The role is being offered on a full time permanent contract, with an annual salary of £27,588.00. The successful candidate will be entitled to 6 weeks holiday (plus bank holidays) and have full access to our Employee Assistance Programme. Working hours are flexible across Monday to Friday, however, please be aware that you will be expected to cover one Saturday out of 3, so you will need to be able to work flexibly to cover the needs of this service.
Reporting to the Scheme Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a caseload, which includes supporting people to maintain their tenancy and achieve successful outcomes. You will assist individuals in the practical and emotional aspects of maintaining their accommodation and liaising with other support services. You will ensure immediate needs are met, such as access to welfare benefits, food, clothing and health care. You will provide appropriate support based on the person’s needs, risk assessment and support plan.
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience of working with people experiencing homelessness or social disadvantage.
- Experience of strong partnership working including liaising and working closely with a range of housing providers, support services, statutory and non‑statutory agencies.
- Experience of housing management including health and safety, repairs and maintenance, property checks, tenancy agreements etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues facing people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, offending behaviours and drug/alcohol challenges.
- Evidence of vocational training and/or professional development in relevant skills for the post (e.g. housing, mental health, welfare benefits).
- Valid driving licence and use of vehicle which can be insured for business use is desirable but not essential.
