Horsley Medical Practice is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team for 4 sessions (2 days) per week starting as soon as possible. We are a well-established and friendly practice serving approximately 10,600 patients in the desirable village of East Horsley. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient‑centred care. The role offers a balanced mix of face‑to‑face and telephone consultations, with opportunities to develop clinical interests. Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues to ensure safe, effective, and efficient delivery of care, with opportunities to develop special interests.
- The GP will provide comprehensive primary care to registered patients, managing a mix of acute, chronic and preventative presentations.
- Consultations are primarily face to face.
- Duties include reviewing test results, making referrals and dealing with correspondence through Docman, managing routine clinical administration, prescribing safely in line with guidelines, and contributing to continuity of care for patients with complex or long‑term conditions.
- The role also includes undertaking home visits where clinically required and working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team including GP partners, ANPs, pharmacists, paramedics and first‑contact practitioners.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary: The post‑holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post‑holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triage visits and home visits when necessary, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Act as duty doctor x1 per week.
- Cover colleagues in the GP buddy scheme.
- Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
- Completion of clinically related administrative and non‑clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
- Refer patients for further opinions and interventions.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions wherever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general the post‑holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
- Maintaining, monitoring and updating computer database and management of medical records and practice audits.
- Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.
- Appropriate use of read codes.
- Participating in the collection and collation of statistics towards the preparation of practice reports, performance monitoring and audits.
- Participating in the auditing of practice activity.
Practice Organisation
- Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence.
- Attendance at in‑house meetings, significant event audit meetings and others as deemed necessary.
- Ensure that the practice complaints system is adhered to at all times.
- Aware of and comply with all relevant guidelines e.g. data protection, confidentiality and health and safety.
- Maintain current CPR and anaphylaxis certification.
- Safeguarding level 3 adult and children and other mandatory training e.g. IG, fire etc.
Qualifications
- GMC registration with licence to practise
- On the NHS England Performers List
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and commitment to appraisal and revalidation
Experience
- Experience working in UK general practice
- Experience managing acute, chronic and preventative care in primary care
- Experience using electronic clinical systems (e.g. EMIS or similar)
