Horsham District Council is looking for a Planning Officer to assist with the preparation of the Horsham District Local Plan. The council is in a key area for new development and growth in West Sussex, and the current local plan is at examination. The role offers the opportunity to work on this process and contribute to the development of new local planning policies.
Responsibilities
- Undertake site assessments, evidence base preparation and public consultation events.
- Liaise with development management colleagues to provide support and advice on planning applications.
- Prepare responses to government or other organisations’ consultations.
- Contribute to the preparation of new local plan under recently implemented planning regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree level education with a planning qualification or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of engaging with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with good time‑management and organisational skills.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required for occasional site visits.
