Role Purpose
This role will play a key part in delivering HorsePower Museum's next stage of development: raising Β£100,000 to support the redesign phase of the museum and helping to establish robust, sustainable fundraising practice. The Fundraising Manager will lead on trusts and foundations, while supporting the cultivation of corporate partners and major donors, building long-term relationships that will underpin the museum's future development.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute tailored fundraising strategies, with a focus on grant/bid writing to trust & foundations, corporates and major donors.
- Research opportunities and write high-quality funding applications and proposals.
- Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors and partners.
- Work with trustees and the Curator to articulate compelling cases for support.
- Support donor communications, recognition and stewardship activity.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure GDPR-compliant processes.
- Ensure timely acknowledgement and tracking of all donations.
- Provide concise monthly reports and formal updates for trustee meetings.
- Working with the Marketing and Communications Assistant, create engaging content linked to Horsepower's website and align to fundraising appeals.
- Contribute to fundraising communications, including digital and print appeals, case for support development, and storytelling.
- Develop a donor recognition and stewardship plan.
- Signpost other fundraising opportunities and events to the Fundraising Committee.
Person specification
Essential
- Proven track record of securing significant income from trusts, foundations, corporates and/or major donors.
- Demonstrable experience of writing and managing successful grant applications and establishing a robust pipeline.
- Confidence in securing 5-figure and multi-year funding to position the museum for future capital appeals and six-figure funding.
- Strong relationship-building skills with external funders and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, numeracy and presentation skills.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and data management.
- Confident using CRM systems, digital tools and Microsoft Office.
- Sound understanding of the regulatory and ethical framework for charitable fundraising.
