About the role

Hornet Services Sailing Club is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and experienced part-time chef to support the delivery of high-quality food for members, visitors and club events. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a friendly, small-team environment and can produce a range of well-presented meals to a consistently high standard, whilst following excellent standards of food safety and kitchen organisation. The club is exclusively for serving and veteran members of the Armed Forces and supporting Civil Servants. The Club fosters a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and hosts a selection of large club functions throughout the year, alongside several private functions. The galley offers a seasonal day-to-day menu, as well as event catering from BBQs to formal silver-service dinners. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly environment where catering plays an important role in delivering an excellent member experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver the day-to-day menu to a high standard in a popular members’ club
  • Liaise closely with the head chef/kitchen team to ensure seamless service and a positive member experience
  • Monitor stock levels, rotate stock correctly, minimise waste and assist with ordering when required
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety and food hygiene laws
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of catering across a wide range of functions and events
  • Report equipment faults, food safety concerns or supply issues promptly to the appropriate person
