Hornby High School is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and student-focused Careers Advisor to join our dedicated team on a permanent, full-time basis starting 28 January 2027.
As a diverse and vibrant multicultural school in Christchurch, our Careers Advisor plays a crucial role in empowering students to navigate their future pathways, make informed choices, and transition successfully into further education, training, or employment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, personalised career guidance and planning to students across Years 7–13.
- Manage and coordinate school pathway initiatives, vocational opportunities, and gateway programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with tertiary providers, local industry partners, and community organisations.
- Organise career expos, guest speakers, and workplace visits to broaden student horizons.
Qualifications and experience
- Fully registered New Zealand Teacher.
- Proven experience working with young people in a secondary school or youth-focused setting.
- Outstanding communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to engage effectively with rangatahi, whānau, and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of the NCEA and future education frameworks and modern pathway options.
