City Ferry, part of Hornblower Group’s Ferry and Transportation Division, is the largest private operator of high-speed passenger and vehicle ferries in the United States. Hornblower Group’s subsidiaries include Hornblower Marine, which provides vessel outhaul and maintenance services, and Seaward Services, Inc., a full-service shipping and waterfront logistics company. Today, Hornblower Group’s global portfolio covers over 10 countries and serves more than 20 million guests annually.

This is a full time (35 to 45 hours per week), fixed term position until the 1st November 2026 paying ÂŁ12.71 per hour. Based in York - Lendal Bridge. Post holders will be required to serve alcohol and must therefore be over 18.

City Cruises UK operates public dining and sightseeing cruises as well as private charters for corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, or other special occasions across London and York.

Boat Crew support us in our mission to create amazing experiences for our guests by delivering a professional, polite, and proactive service throughout their journey. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers.
  • Ensuring the highest level of customer care is shown at all times.
  • Greeting and welcoming guests onboard our vessels.
  • Adhering to all Health and Safety requirements.
  • Participating in routine safety drills.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety of all common areas.
  • Managing visitor flow, especially with large groups.
  • Ensuring safe mooring of the vessels.
  • Reporting any maintenance checks or incidents.
  • Selling drinks, snacks, and tickets.
  • Promoting local and global products and services.
  • Maintaining uniform and personal grooming standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a guest services/customer facing role.
  • A willingness to proactively approach guests.
  • Customer Service orientated.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Demonstrable experience in upselling and cross-selling.
  • Flexible “can do” approach.
  • Able to work for extended periods without sitting.

Desirable but non-essential:

  • Experience with POS systems.
  • Relevant industry/customer service-related qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.
