Teaching assistants in our school form a bridge in many ways. They not only support through interventions and class learning but act as guides to our children in how we want them to be. They are invaluable, full of humour, drive and life.

Horley Infant School is looking for a caring, nurturing member of staff to temporarily join our team to help support the children’s learning and development. This position would be perfect for somebody who is child‑centred, enjoys working with children under seven, has good interpersonal skills, is an effective team player and is knowledgeable about how to support learning in the infant phase. The role will involve a combination of both class‑based teaching assistant duties as well as 1:1 / small group interventions and support. We would love to hear from people who appreciate that everyone has the potential to achieve in their own way. An understanding of the Early Years Framework or KS1 National Curriculum, or experience of leading interventions or supporting specific needs, would be desirable.

This is a temporary contract for 12 months from September 2026. The working hours per week will be 26.25, across 38 weeks per annum (plus some additional training days). Working days are Monday to Friday from 8.40am to 3.10pm. Breaks during the day will be unpaid.
