The Woodlands Academy, part of Horizons Specialist Academy Trust, recently moved into a new purpose-built School. Horizons Specialist Academy Trust comprises eight academies across Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and supports over 1,000 children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs. As a Special Academy, we offer a unique and forward‑thinking curriculum. We specialise in Autism, Communication Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We invest in CPD for both teaching and support staff, recognising that our people are our greatest asset.
Role Overview
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Advanced Teaching Assistant (ATA) to work with our children and support them to reach their potential. As an ATA, you will work under the direction of the Class Lead and other appropriate staff, assisting in and contributing to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the learning process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating learning activities for mixed‑ability groups and individual pupils.
- Support classroom management and daily routines.
- Work with both group sessions and one‑to‑one pupil support.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of inclusive teaching strategies.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Committed to fostering an encouraging, caring, and supportive environment that meets children’s physical and medical needs.
