The role A well-regarded specialist school for pupils with autism inNorth Londonis looking for an SEN Class Teacher to take aprimaryclass on a long-term basis, with a genuine view to permanent for the right person. You'll lead a small class of pupils, all with an EHCP, supported by a team of teaching assistants who know the children well. Class sizes are small, the staffing ratios are high, and the school gives its teachers the time and training to do the job properly. Planning and delivering a personalised curriculum matched to each pupil's EHCP outcomes and stage of development Using autism-specific approaches day to day structured teaching, visual supports, workstations, PECS, Makaton and AAC Embedding communication, regulation, independence and life skills across the whole school day Tracking progress on [Evidence for Learning / B Squared], writing reports and leading Annual Reviews Leading and deploying your class team, and modelling the strategies that work for each child Working closely with SaLT, OT and the wider therapy team, and building open relationships with families Qualified Teacher Status essential Experience of teaching pupils with SEND, in a special school, resource base or mainstream primary Sound understanding of autism, the SEND Code of Practice and the EHCP process Confidence planning for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations Willingness to train in the school's physical intervention framework [Team Teach / PROACT-SCIPr] and to support personal care needs Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new one Long-term role with a clear route to permanent on Outer London MPS/UPS plus SEN allowance Excellent autism-specific CPD training.
