About the role:
Horizon Teachers is seeking a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small groups across all Key Stages. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with learners who have complex needs, many of whom are non-verbal and require full-time, tailored support.

Key responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs
- Assist pupils with personal care, feeding, and mobility support (e.g., hoisting or wheelchair use)
- Support class teachers in delivering an adapted, sensory-based curriculum
- Use communication tools such as Makaton, symbols, signs, AAC devices
- Help create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes both independence and communication
We are looking for?
- Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex medical needs, or non-verbal communication in school, care, or home settings
- The emotional intelligence to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Confidence with personal care, manual handling, and feeding
- Desirable: Experience using hoists, AAC devices, or supporting with therapies
