Position : SEMH Teaching Assistant (1 : 1)

Location : Sutton

Start Date : ASAP

Hours : Full-time, term-time

We are seeking an exceptional SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 1 : 1 with a pupil who needs calm, consistency, and connection to thrive.

This is not a routine TA role. This is a role for someone who truly gets children, especially those whose behaviour tells a story.

About the Role

You will work closely with a child with social, emotional and mental health needs, providing trauma-informed, relational support throughout the school day. The pupil needs an adult who can co-regulate, set clear boundaries with warmth, and remain steady even on challenging days.

You’ll be part of a supportive, reflective school team that values:

Requirements / Experience

Were Looking For Someone Who :

  • Has experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, anxiety, or behaviour needs
  • Is trauma-informed and / or ELSA trained
  • Can remain calm, patient and emotionally attuned under pressure
  • Understands that behaviour is communication
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with children
  • Is reflective, resilient, and committed to safeguarding
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
