We are recruiting for a resilient and proactive Behavioural Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a primary SEMH unit in Thurrock. This unit supports young people who face significant behavioural challenges due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing them with a structured, understanding, and positive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong behaviour management skills and a passion for making a difference in students' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students across Key Stages 1 and 2 with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural challenges.
- Implement and reinforce behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
- De-escalate challenging behaviours calmly and effectively, helping students to regulate emotions and actions.
- Support the academic and personal development of students, fostering resilience and independence.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Previous experience in a behavioural support role, ideally within a PRU, SEND, or SEMH setting.
- Strong understanding and experience in behaviour management techniques, including de-escalation strategies.
- Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour management programs is highly advantageous.
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.
