As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere for students with diverse needs. Your experience in managing challenging behaviours and providing targeted support to students with SEMH requirements will be invaluable in promoting their academic, emotional, and social development.
What you'll be doing:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement tailored strategies and interventions for students with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
- Assist in developing and delivering engaging learning activities that cater to individual learning styles.
- Monitor and track students' progress, communicating effectively with teachers and parents.
- Act as a positive role model, inspiring students to build their self-confidence and develop crucial life skills.
The ideal person will have:
- Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with SEMH challenges.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Empathetic and patient approach when dealing with challenging situations.
- Relevant certifications or training in SEN support (desirable, not essential).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
