A well-established specialist provision in South East London is seeking an experienced and committed teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The Role:
You will lead a class of pupils with severe learning disabilities, delivering highly differentiated, personalised learning programmes tailored to EHCP outcomes. Progress may look different in this environment; communication milestones, independence skills and social development are celebrated just as much as academic achievement. You will work closely with experienced support staff, therapists and families to ensure each pupil receives consistent, structured and aspirational support.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Have proven experience working with pupils with severe and/or complex learning difficulties
- Demonstrate strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised curriculum planning
- Be confident leading, directing and developing teaching assistants
- Have experience with alternative and augmentative communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, AAC)
- Be calm, resilient and solution-focused
- Maintain high expectations for pupils with additional needs
- Be deeply committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Experienced mainstream teachers with substantial SEN experience and a genuine desire to specialise are also encouraged to apply.
