City Centre Based SEMH Teaching Assistant Supporting Pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (Aged 11-18). We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary-age provision in the heart of the city centre. You will work with pupils aged 11-18 who have EHCPs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing consistent, relationship-based support that helps them re-engage with learning and develop emotional resilience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Using holistic nurture approaches to build trust, confidence and emotional safety.
  • Applying positive consequence therapy to help pupils understand behaviour, choices and outcomes.
  • De-escalating perceived challenging behaviour.
  • Supporting pupils to regulate emotions, manage transitions and access learning.
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
  • Contributing to personalised strategies outlined in each pupil's EHCP.

  • A calm, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build strong, consistent relationships with pupils who may struggle with trust and build pupil confidence using holistic nurture and positive consequence approaches.
  • A passion for helping young people overcome barriers and thrive.

Benefits of this job include:

  • Consistent 8.30-3.15 working day Monday-Friday.
  • 195 days of work within an academic year.
  • Payment every Friday in arrears.
  • A dedicated First for Education consultant.
  • £98.21- £100 per day.
