Established in 1993, Horizon is a market leader in the Work at Height & Lightning Protection Industry, undertaking contracts throughout the UK and abroad. Horizon is a member of the Association of Technical Lightning & Access Specialists.
The successful candidate would join the management team reporting daily to the Lightning Protection Technical Director and ultimately the Directors of the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily responsibility for the management of Lightning Protection operational activities, including interviewing prospective lightning protection site personnel and verifying candidate competencies.
- Undertaking 3, 6, and 12 monthly employment reviews both in person and remotely, ensuring reviews are genuine and meaningful with achievements and outcomes recorded/planned.
- Holding Operative's investigatory and disciplinary meetings with HR.
- Regularly reviewing Operative's training and competency certificates, working with the Business Director and Senior Contracts Administrator to ensure training meets client contract requirements.
- Liaising with LC Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Administrator, and Business Director to ensure Security Vetting for site personnel is carried out prior to contract start date.
- Daily liaison with site teams to ensure contracts are carried out to required timescales and budgets.
- Daily liaison with LC Resource Planner to plan and program contracts.
- Liaison with the LC Contracts Manager regarding contract details, permits to work arranged, road closures, and specialist access required.
- Daily liaison with site teams who may be lone working.
- Dealing with issues affecting site personnel, liaising with HR where required.
- Cascading health, safety, quality, and environmental information to site teams via message service.
- Delivery of contract works to timescales and budget.
- Liaising with clients, designers, sub-contractors, and Horizon LC Contract Manager regarding site works, compliance with Building Safety Act or CDM Regs.
- Ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported by LC site personnel in line with company policy and that documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Liaising with Warehouse/Material handling team to confirm materials and equipment required for contract.
- Undertaking Tool Box Talks, site audits, client meetings, Teams meetings, and attending safety group and management meetings as required.
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation and guidelines through direct action or delegation to the Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical: Relevant formal qualifications, knowledge and/or certification to BS 6651 & BS EN 62305 preferred, or extensive and proven high level of operational experience in the Lightning Protection industry in a similar role.
- Experience: Current or previous experience in an operational supervisory or management role is preferred.
- Characteristic: Able to manage, motivate and control operational personnel engaged in front line activities. A sound technical person able to communicate comfortably with clients at all levels.
- Driving license: Essential, applicants must be able to lodge in the UK or abroad as required for site visits & client meetings.
- Skills: Ability to plan LC workloads and labour force, meet goals and objectives in a timely manner, good interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills, and good PC skills with experience of MS Word, Excel & Outlook/Cloud 365.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary: Flexible to reflect the experience and qualifications of applicants.
Hours: 7.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday (some flexibility required due to the nature of contracts).
Holidays: 22 days increasing to 25 days max + Statutory Bank Holidays.
Pension Scheme: Salary sacrifice.
Employment Reviews: At 3, 6, and 12 monthly intervals.
Training: Structured Training & Development.
