An opportunity has arisen for a Test & Reliability Team Leader with a successful technical manufacturing company based in rural Cambridgeshire and close to Royston. The role: Responsible for the verification and validation of existing and emerging Sensor technologies. You will be leading and coordinating technology reliability and testing activities. This includes ongoing testing, data analysis, failure analysis and reliability reporting for systems and subsystem components to build overall design confidence. You will be evaluating and prioritising internal test and quality assurance demands, getting involved in hands-on product and reliability testing and the design and development of test methods for Gas Detection instruments and sensors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Test Team and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Research, Product Development, Production, Quality Management, Product Managers and external partners.
- Develop, implement and document procedures for testing and failure analysis such as Test Plans, Methods and conclusive Reports, applying the principles of Verification and Validation.
- Identify, promote and deliver internal improvement projects including the development and maintenance of processes and standards.
- Utilise Python to control test equipment, generate analysis scripts and visualise data using JMP.
- Ensure all equipment owned by the group is maintained and calibrated.
- Scope, develop and validate test infrastructure such as electro-mechanical test rigs.
- Work with design teams to identify bespoke test requirements.
- Actively manage internal resources to ensure testing is completed as planned and to the highest standard.
The Person: This is a hands-on role for which we are seeking someone with the following skills and experience:
- Educated to Degree or HND levels in a relevant STEM subject or equivalent training or experience.
- A flexible, collaborative approach with good critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, building rapport with internal departments and external customers.
- A structured, methodical approach to problem solving.
- An understanding of following a New Product Development process.
- The ability to work on multiple projects and meet required deadlines.
- Knowledge of reliability, environmental and lifetime testing and failure analysis.
- Experience in product development in a manufacturing environment.
- Systems reliability engineering experience (Hardware, Software and Firmware).
- Experience with statistical methods and software tools for data analysis.
- Experience in remotely controlling instruments through scripting in Python, LabVIEW or similar.
- Use of standard tools including power supplies, data loggers, multimeters, gas cylinder regulators and microscopes.
- Knowledge of reliability engineering projects and Quality Systems such as Six Sigma would be advantageous.
- The understanding of scientific principles of Gas Chemistry relevant to VOC gas sensing and detection.
Details: This role is offered on a Full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is depending on experience and plus benefits, and due to the rural nature of the location, candidates must be able to drive to site.
