Our client is a well‑established business sourcing and supplying niche electronic components for a wide range of markets.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a sales and new business development professional to join the client’s small, successful electronic component distribution firm. The role is office‑based four days a week, either at the Stevenage or Thurston location, and after initial training and probation you may work from home one day a week. It is a full‑time permanent position, Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead generation, researching potential new business and conducting cold and warm calling.
- Establish the customer’s potential needs and learn what they manufacture, where they source components and any procurement challenges.
- Liaise with stock controller to discuss product availability and contact suppliers to source items not in stock, negotiating best price.
- Work against time pressures to ensure customers receive orders on time, especially for production deadlines.
- Occasionally visit customers and the head office in Stowmarket as required.
- Add data and updated customer or supplier information to the company database.
- Create and chase quotations.
- Generate sales reports as required.
Qualifications
- Experience in the electronics industry, preferably from a brokerage perspective.
- Previous experience within a Sales / Business Development role and comfort making sales calls.
- Strong computer/IT confidence and skill using Sage (training provided).
- Drive to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Reliable, responsible character with the ability to self‑manage.
- Willingness to make cold approaches via phone and to engage in new business development.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good team‑player and enthusiasm to work as part of a small, busy, growing business.
- Clear, friendly and professional communication skills.
- Own driving licence and car for site visits.
Benefits
Basic salary £28,000 – £38,000 depending on relevant experience. Uncapped commission, with an on‑target earnings (OTE) range of £36,000 – £48,000 per annum. A supportive, friendly working environment and autonomy within a niche electronics sector.
