An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Engineering Lead within a Technical Manufacturing Industry with our brilliant client. The company is based in rural Cambridgeshire and close to Royston, and due to the rural nature of the location, candidates must be able to drive to site. This is a great opportunity to join a thriving company within their Manufacturing Engineering team and collaborate within the wider company teams. This is a full-time permanent position and the salary is negotiable depending on experience.

The Role: You will be joining the company as a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team and take responsibility for developing best-in-class PCBA and Product Testing capability, along with diagnostic support to ensure that the Manufacturing Operations can run reliably and efficiently. Leading a small team of Electronics Manufacturing and Test Engineers/Technicians, you will also take the lead in managing projects to support the introduction of new products, processes and automated test equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading a small team looking after the day-to-day aspects of meeting departmental objectives and providing technical support to Manufacturing.
- Taking the lead in delivering New Products, Processes and Equipment into Manufacturing, utilising best in class automated manufacturing processes and test solutions.
- Design, specify, develop, validate and document automated test and verification processes to meet the requirements of the Manufacturing team and to develop the capacity to meet current and future customer requirements.
- Working with both Manufacturing and R&D teams to develop data acquisition from key test and manufacturing equipment (K stations) to enable data-driven decisions and improvements.
- Provide exceptional support to Manufacturing by conducting structured problem solving & root cause analysis to diagnose issues and provide robust solutions.
- Working closely with external suppliers as well as in-house R&D, PVL, Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering teams to resolve high priority issues.
- Provide good quality "design for manufacture and test" inputs for the Project Development teams.
- Fault finding and repair of precision electronic PCBA’s etc.
- Support the Manufacturing and test processes of all PCBA variants via all the relevant in-house processes, equipment & relevant IPC standards.
- Providing training where applicable.
- Maintaining high quality documentation using the company documentation systems.
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities to develop and improve the manufacturing capability in the PCBA, Product Manufacturing and Calibration Processes.
The Person: For this important role within the company, we are seeking someone with the following skills and attributes:
- Ideally educated to degree level within a relevant technical subject – Electronics or related engineering subject.
- CAD for the Design of Electronics Circuits.
- Advanced Electronic & Electrical Design measurement competence.
- Able to lead others effectively at all levels.
- The ability to design electronics circuits and PCB layouts for test and programming equipment using modern CAD packages.
- Skilled in conducting structured root cause analysis of advanced & high sensitivity electronics to enable robust problem solving and solutions.
- Understanding and experience of working with various types of Firmware and Software and ideally, some basic coding ability.
- Experience of working with modern SMT/PCBA and AOI related machines and related processes and equipment.
This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. The salary offered is depending on experience and plus benefits.
