Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Junior Field Technical Surveyor to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical, construction or technical background who is looking to develop specialist surveying skills and build a career within technical project delivery.
You will work alongside experienced Field Technical Surveyors, receiving training, mentoring and practical experience.
The Role
Reporting in to the M&E Manager, you will support the delivery of field surveys for ANPR and associated technology installations across a wide range of client sites throughout the UK.
Working alongside experienced Surveyors, you will assist with collecting site information, assessing electrical infrastructure, preparing survey documentation and identifying practical installation solutions.
You will gain hands‑on experience of surveying techniques, electrical infrastructure, ANPR technologies and project delivery whilst developing the knowledge and confidence to undertake surveys independently.
You will also support the wider Technical Team with maintenance activities, camera fault investigations and signage installations when required, helping to build a broad understanding of Horizon's technical services.
As this role supports projects nationwide, regular travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with carrying out field surveys for ANPR and associated technology installations across the UK.
- Collect accurate site measurements, photographs and technical information to support project planning.
- Assist with assessing electrical infrastructure, power supplies and ducting systems under the guidance of experienced Surveyors.
- Prepare survey notes and supporting documentation for technical reports.
- Support Project Delivery by ensuring survey information is accurate and submitted within agreed timescales.
- Learn to interpret technical drawings, utility plans and site layouts.
- Develop an understanding of ANPR technologies, electrical infrastructure and installation methodologies.
- Support camera fault investigations, signage installations and other maintenance activities where required.
- Work safely and in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and safe systems of work.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues whilst representing Horizon Group professionally.
- Participate in training, mentoring and continuous professional development activities to build technical competence and support career progression.
About You
- Experience working within an electrical, construction, engineering or technical environment.
- A recognised Electrical qualification (or equivalent relevant experience) or a willingness to work towards one.
- A good understanding of safe working practices and Health & Safety requirements.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- A positive attitude towards learning and professional development.
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationwide, including overnight stays where required.
Experience within ANPR, CCTV, telecommunications or infrastructure surveying would be advantageous but is not essential, as training and ongoing mentoring will be provided.
