Group HR Administrator
Location: Wigan (Orrell)
Salary: £28,000.00 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm
Horizon is an entrepreneurial Group of companies (Horizon Parking Ltd, AEJ Management Ltd, Gleneagles Project Services Ltd and PW Architectural Consultants Ltd) with ambitious growth plans for the next five years and beyond.
With around 450 colleagues operating across multiple businesses, we're continuing to invest in our people, technology, and the way we work.
We're looking for a Group HR Administrator to join our busy Group HR team, providing administrative support across all four businesses.
Although employed by Horizon Parking Ltd, this is a genuine Group-wide role with exposure to a broad range of HR activity.
As our Group HR Administrator, you'll be the backbone of our HR function, ensuring our people records, systems, and processes are accurate, organised and delivered to the highest standard.
This is a fast-paced role where you'll support every stage of the colleague lifecycle, coordinate learning and development administration, maintain our HR system and provide exceptional administrative support to colleagues across the Group.
If you thrive on organisation, enjoy working with systems and love bringing order to a busy environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Whilst our Group Head Office is in Chelmsford, most of our Group HR team is based in Wigan in a dedicated office setting, which has a longstanding and slightly different working environment to a traditional corporate office.
Six members of the HR team, including the Group HR & Corporate Services Board Director, work together from this location and operate to the same high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and delivery that you'd expect from any Group HR function.
The environment is collaborative, supportive, informal, and focused, with a more relaxed and personal feel than a conventional corporate office.
There are also three small-to-medium dogs and several cats, so you'll need to be comfortable working alongside some furry companions.
Although you'll be based in Wigan, you'll spend roughly three days (two nights) each month at our Head Office in Chelmsford.
These planned visits are an important part of building relationships with colleagues across the Group and maintaining visibility within the wider business.
You'll therefore need to be able to travel independently to Chelmsford for these monthly visits, although very often with another colleague, and a pool vehicle is available for business travel - as such a full driving licence is required.
Your responsibilities will include
- Providing day-to-day HR administration support across the Group.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date colleague records and documentation.
- Processing starters, leavers, colleague contractual changes, and other colleague lifecycle administration.
- Preparing contracts, letters, and other standard HR documentation.
- Processing TUPE transfers (in and out).
- Maintaining and updating our Advanced HR system.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC right to work and business-related new starter protocols.
- Supporting absence management administration, including giving advice on next steps to managers in line with company policy.
- Supporting recruitment administration, including supporting with arranging interviews, pre-employment checks, and onboarding.
- Coordinating the administration of learning and development activity, including training bookings, records, and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate training and compliance records.
- Supporting colleague benefits administration and other routine HR processes.
- Producing HR reports and information as required.
- Responding to routine HR administration queries and directing more complex queries to the appropriate member of the HR team.
- Maintaining accurate electronic HR records.
- Supporting HR processes, audits, and projects through accurate and timely administration.
- Identifying opportunities to improve, simplify, and automate administrative processes.
- Providing general administrative support to the Group HR team as required.
We're looking for someone with previous office administration experience, ideally within an HR environment.
You don't need to have extensive HR experience, but you should have a genuine interest in HR and be comfortable working with confidential information, systems, and detailed processes.
You'll need to be extremely organised, self-motivated, and disciplined, with the ability to manage numerous priorities without losing sight of detail.
We're looking for someone who
- Has previous office administration experience, ideally with some HR exposure.
- Is highly organised and structured in their approach.
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.
- Can manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Can organise their own workload and work independently.
- Is proactive and willing to use their initiative within their role.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality when handling colleague information.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Is system savvy and comfortable learning new technology and systems.
- Has good written and verbal communication skills.
- Can communicate effectively with colleagues at different levels of the organisation.
- Can adapt to changing priorities and a fast-paced working environment.
- Works effectively as part of a small team.
- Full driving licence and the willingness to travel to head office, and other company locations as required.
Our culture
- We're a fun, dynamic, supportive, person-led, and informal business, whilst always maintaining a professional approach to our work.
- We're a small HR team supporting a multi-business Group, so everyone has an important role to play.
We value people who are organised, collaborative, willing to learn, willing to develop, flexible, and comfortable taking ownership of their work.
- We also make extensive use of technology, and we automate what we can, so you'll need to be comfortable using systems and technology and interested in finding practical ways to make processes simpler and more efficient.
Why join Horizon?
- This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing business with big ambitions, gaining broad exposure to HR and other supporting functions across a multi-business and very successful Group.
- You'll work across four businesses and a wide range of HR administration, giving you the opportunity to build your HR knowledge and experience.
- You'll also be part of a small HR team where your contribution will be visible and where there is scope to develop your skills and career as the Group continues to evolve.
