What are we looking for?
ANPR Surveyor/Electrician, to be based locally to our Chelmsford Head Office but will require Nationwide travel – so the need to be flexible and available for overnight stays is a must. Someone who can work at least 40 hours per week, with a full driving licence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed intrusive surveys of sites to evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and ducting systems.
- Assess power needs for ANPR camera installations and identify suitable power sources.
- Collaborate closely with the project management team to provide accurate reports and recommendations based on survey findings.
- Analyse the existing duct infrastructure to determine the most cost-effective installation solutions for ANPR systems.
- Oversee the work of the Junior Surveyor, providing guidance, training, and support as required.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with health & safety and welfare regulations including preparing risk and method statements assessments for all jobs and ensuring all work permits are in place prior to starting on site.
- Prepare comprehensive survey reports, including schematic diagrams and photographs, outlining findings, recommendations, and any necessary remedial works.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to provide updates on survey progress and findings.
- Stay current on industry standards, technologies, and best practices related to ANPR systems and electrical infrastructure.
- Undertake toolbox talks with subordinates and ensure that all near misses and accidents are reported and followed up on in line with company health and safety policy.
- Ensure subordinates have the tools, plant and traffic management equipment to perform all jobs in a safe manner to the standards expected.
- Ensure subordinates maintain accurate records of their tools and equipment through regular PUWER checks and the company On Track asset tracking system.
- Day to day management and development of team members in line with company policies and handbook including recruitment and selection, training, timesheets, expenses, investigations and disciplinary hearings, performance management, absence management, training and development and appraisals.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to provide support for attending to camera faults and signage installations during periods when there is no requirement for site surveys.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Relevant certification in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field.
- Proven experience in conducting surveys of electrical infrastructure, ideally within the ANPR or CCTV sector.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and ducting infrastructure.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess site conditions and design installation solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff is preferred.
- Ability to read site infrastructure plans.
- Proficiency in surveying equipment with the ability to produce detailed reports.
- Willingness to travel nationally across the UK as required for site surveys with a clean driving license.
- Have a good understanding of H&S at work regulations 1999 and Construction Design & Management 2015 regulations.
- Hold a management or supervisors CSCS card.
- Hold a SMSTS or SSSTS CITB certification.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- A process orientated logical and practical approach to your work.
- Have a pro-active and self-motivated approach to your work.
