The Role
The Pool Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality swimming lessons by working closely with the Level 2 Swimming Teacher. This role provides both in-water assistance and poolside support to ensure lessons are safe, enjoyable, and aligned with the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework.
What does the role involve?
- Assist the Level 2 Swimming Teacher in delivering structured and enjoyable swimming lessons.
- Provide in-water support to help participants with technique and confidence.
- Prepare equipment and ensure the teaching area is safe and ready for use.
- Support learners individually or in small groups during sessions.
- Promote a positive and inclusive environment for all swimmers.
- Observe and report learner progress and behaviour to the Swimming Teacher.
- Assist with the emergency evacuation of the pool, as directed by the Swimming Teacher.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
- Attend training and team meetings as required.
- Provide a safe, informative, fun and productive lesson.
- Be fully aware of the Centre's Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Procedures.
- Uphold the expected standards, behaviours, and values of Horizon.
Your Qualifications:
- Level 1 certificate in swim teaching (Desirable)

This role will be based at Waterlooville but will be expected to travel to other company sites as the need requires.
