The Opportunity

This is a rare, long-term opportunity for an ambitious Head Chef to lead, manage, and look after the entirety of our kitchen operation at one of Anglesey's most iconic beachfront destinations. We have built a fantastic reputation for high-quality fresh food, and we are moving fast to secure our new leader ahead of a busy summer peak. We are a family-run independent business with big ambitions for the future of The Ship Inn. Set right on the beach at Red Wharf Bay, The Ship is one of the island's premier established destination pub and restaurants. We are fully invested in continuing to make it the number one hospitality venue on Anglesey. This current opportunity is far more than just maintaining an existing kitchen operation. We have exciting plans to expand our offering within the next 12 months with an additional brand-new dining space. This is a true opportunity for the right Head Chef to take total ownership, put their own stamp on a brand-new concept, and look after it all. We want a leader who wants to settle here, grow with us, and be a core part of what we are building for the long term.

The Package & Accommodation

We believe in rewarding top kitchen talent properly:

  • Private Accommodation: Available with only utility bills/bills to pay. This offers a fantastic coastal relocation opportunity and has the potential to accommodate a family for the right long-term candidate.

  • Bonus Scheme: Discretionary bonus scheme closely linked to clear kitchen KPIs.
  • Tips: Generous share of staff cash and card tips.
  • Perks: Free staff meals provided on all shifts lasting over 8 hours.

The Role & Responsibilities

As Head Chef, you will take full ownership and look after all aspects of the kitchen. You will manage the entire day-to-day kitchen operation, lead calmly from the front, and ensure excellent food goes out every single service across both our established pub and restaurant and our upcoming new dining offering. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Menu Development: Taking full ownership of menu creation, introducing high-quality dishes that keep customers coming back, and driving our new dining space concept.
  • Team Leadership: Training, mentoring, and managing a positive, hardworking kitchen team across the entire business.
  • Financial Control: Total commercial management of the kitchen, including stock control, GP margins, labour costs, and wastage to hit targets.
