The predicted salary is between 25760 - 26000 £ per year.

Horizon Healthcare are looking for a Healthcare Assistant who has an approachable manner and is able to work within our friendly team. You will be integral in maintaining the functioning of the practice and be able to work under pressure. 37.5 hours per week over five days. A minimum of one late shift (10:30 - 18:30) would be required. Salary dependent on experience, equivalent to mid-Band 3.

Main duties of the job:

  • Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
  • Assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
  • To be able to work at the main and branch surgery sites.

Job responsibilities:

  • Wound care / Dressings / Management
  • Clip and suture removals
  • Venepuncture
  • ECGs
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate
  • Lifestyle advice
  • Diabetic foot checks
  • Fitting and removing of 24-hour BP monitor
  • Doppler
  • FeNo
  • Re-stocking of consulting rooms, storage cupboards, etc.
  • Stock ordering
  • Vaccine / cold chain storage monitoring and recording
  • Maintain, clean and check function of appropriate equipment used within the surgery

Person Specification:

  • Clinical knowledge and skills: Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples, Venepuncture, ECGs, New patient medicals inc. Height, weight, BP, Pulse, Chaperone procedure, Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and oral), Clear, polite telephone manner, SystmOne user, Effective time management (Planning & Organising), Ability to work as a team member and autonomously, Good interpersonal skills, Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure, Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
  • Qualifications: Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level, Ear syringing certification, Polite and confident, Flexible and cooperative, Motivated, Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required, High levels of integrity and loyalty, Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations, Ability to work under pressure / in stressful situations, Effectively able to communicate and understand the needs of the patient, Commitment to ongoing professional development, Punctual and committed to supporting the team effort.
  • Experience: Experience of working in a primary (GP) care environment, Experience of working with the general public, Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
