Due to continued growth and expansion, Horizon Care and Education have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher to join our fantastic Alternative Learning Pathway team based at our new Meadowbrook School. Horizon Alternative Learning Pathway (HALP) aims to support and engage young people for whom learning in a school environment is not appropriate. We deliver short to medium term, personalised learning programmes nationally - a combination of direct home tutoring, mentoring and online learning for pupils from ages 8-25.

You will be based at our Meadowbrook School and will form part of the team at this school. As an Assistant Headteacher you will be expected to attend meetings and training at the school and at times may be asked to cover lessons/support in school if needed. You will be working in a variety of non-school settings where you will be building and maintaining excellent educational relationships with the students. Your focus will be the individual learning needs of the student who has struggled in a school environment. Due to the nature of the role you will need to be a car owner/driver.

As an Assistant Headteacher you will aim to achieve the highest possible standards and outcomes for the pupils as a member of the senior management team. Responsible for the implementation of effective policies and procedures that support the high standards of education. You will work to assist the Headteacher in the day-to-day running of the school.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have QTS or QTLS Qualification
  • Have similar SLT experience in an SEN environment
  • Have up-to-date OFSTED knowledge of the SEN education sector and desired outcomes
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge and experience

Strategically oversee the school’s resources to support the achievement of educational objectives and priorities effectively and efficiently. Collaborate with the headteacher to clearly articulate, disseminate, ensure understanding of, and effectively implement the school’s vision among all stakeholders. Prioritise pupil achievement, safety, and well-being as the core focus of all school activities. Foster a culture of challenge and support to empower every student to succeed and actively engage in their learning journey. Articulate and uphold high expectations by setting ambitious targets for the entire school community. Exemplify the school’s values consistently through daily work and actions.

About us: We take great satisfaction in being "good neighbours." Horizon schools foster a healthy sense of community both inside and outside of their immediate surroundings. As part of our highly personalised and purposeful provision, pupils at our schools participate in a wide range of academic, creative, sporting, and vocational learning opportunities and activities, which supports them in developing a range of skills and maximising learning outcomes.
