Make a real difference to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and colleagues. We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of our health and safety strategy, helping to create and maintain a positive safety culture across our residential homes, schools, supported accommodation and corporate services. What you'll be doing
- Supporting the delivery of excellent health and safety practices across all services.
- Conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legislation.
- Identifying trends from audits and inspections and producing reports to support continuous improvement.
- Carrying out risk assessments and supporting investigations into accidents and incidents.
- Completing and monitoring RIDDOR reports where required.
- Providing practical health and safety advice on topics including fire safety, hazardous substances, legionella and noise.
- Supporting the delivery of health and safety training and awareness initiatives.
- Monitoring health and safety actions and working collaboratively with operational teams to drive improvements.
- Building positive relationships with regulatory bodies, local authorities, suppliers and other external partners.
- Supporting the organization's network of Health & Safety Committee members.
- Maintaining accurate health and safety records and documentation.
- Visiting our residential homes, schools, supported accommodation and office locations on a regular basis.
- Occasionally, you may be required to respond to emergency incidents outside normal working hours or travel to support services across the organization.
What we're looking for
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence to positively influence and challenge where appropriate.
- Knowledge of RIDDOR reporting requirements.
- Good IT skills and confidence using new systems.
- Willingness to travel to services across the organization.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and completing further training where required.
- Experience within health and social care, children's services or education.
- Experience conducting health and safety audits or inspections.
- Experience supporting incident investigations and developing improvement plans.
