Horizon Care and Education have an exciting opportunity for a 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Alternative Learning Pathway team in Woodbury School - Wolverhampton. Horizon Alternative Learning Pathway (HALP) aims to support and engage young people for whom learning in a school environment is not appropriate. We deliver short to medium term, personalised learning programmes nationally - a combination of direct home tutoring, mentoring and online learning for pupils from ages 8-25.
You will be based at our Woodbury SEN School and will form part of the team at this school. As a peripatetic practitioner you will visit children to deliver the 1-1 education in the community. You will be expected to attend meetings and training at the school and at times may be asked to cover lessons/support in school if needed. You will be working in a variety of non-school settings where you will be building and maintaining excellent educational relationships with the students. Your focus will be the individual learning needs of the student who has struggled in a school environment. Due to the nature of the role you will need to be a car owner/driver. Full mileage paid for travel at 40p a mile.
Responsibilities
- Deliver 1-1 education in community settings as a peripatetic practitioner.
- Attend meetings and training at the school; cover lessons/support in school if needed.
- Develop and maintain positive educational relationships with students in non-school settings.
- Focus on the individual learning needs of students who have struggled in a traditional school environment.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Have up-to-date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge and experience.
- Have 1 year of experience working with SEN/SEMH children in a 1-1 setting, based in the community or home.
- Be a car driver with own vehicle.
