Bright Futures, Inspired By You. We are seeking a highly motivated English Teacher to join our dedicated team at a trauma-informed school. Our institution is committed to fostering a nurturing environment that supports pupils with a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Dudley Port School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls aged 11-16 with complex needs including SEMH. Based in Tipton, the school aims to prepare pupils for the next stages of their learning and employment and believes in education for life.

Role: Lead Teacher for English. The position involves teaching English to children aged 11-16 and monitoring the development of English knowledge and skills across the curriculum, while supporting teachers and teaching assistants.

Location: Dudley Port School, Tipton.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to students aged 11-16.
  • Monitor the development of English knowledge and skills across the curriculum.
  • Support teachers and teaching assistants with English-related learning and development.
  • Contribute to a trauma-informed, nurturing learning environment for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Collaborate with the school team to deliver a high-quality, sequenced curriculum focused on outcomes for pupils.

Qualifications:

  • QTS or QTLS Qualification.
  • Proven teaching and learning experience.
  • Experience teaching English and Literacy.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge.
  • The ideal candidate should be an outstanding classroom practitioner with energy, passion, and drive to raise standards.
  • Initiative, vision, excellent planning, and organisational skills.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of developments in education.
