We are looking for an inspirational SENCO at our brand new Thornycroft School based in Oldham (OL8). Thornycroft School will be a brand-new, independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for up to 70 pupils. Based in Oldham, Greater Manchester, the school will meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 5-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism. We provide a holistic, bespoke curriculum with rich learning opportunities that enable young people to develop their functional life skills in order to experience a high quality of life.
To be our SENCO, you’ll be a multi-talented professional, you’ll have great leadership and communication skills; endless enthusiasm, resilience and vision, and a commitment to both the education and the achievement of each young person.
The Successful Applicants Will Need:
- Must hold a SENCO Qualification or be close to completing
- Must have a QTS status
- Make a valuable contribution to the offering that young people receive at the school as part of the provision of high-quality teaching and learning
- Have some experience of working effectively with local authorities
- Have a passion for ensuring all young people succeed
- Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed, and successful staff team
- Have high aspirations for themselves and others, and a commitment to further development
- Have a robust understanding of SEND Code of practice
- An understanding of SEMH education and how to support the additional needs associated with SEMH pupils
